SEO Consulting for Agencies
Most creative, media and technology agencies—even some digital agencies—don’t consider search engine optimization during their own website design and development process. No matter the reasons, it’s a costly mistake—and the very reason I offer SEO consulting for agencies.
With a background in design, I understand that best practices in SEO and UX can feel counter to unbound creativity. But here’s the thing: you’re running a business. And that business should not rely on referrals alone; In fact, your new business streams should be incredibly diverse if you want your agency to grow and scale.
Organic search can be a powerful channel for business development, but your agency needs to show up in the search results. Ideally, you’d appear above your competitors for specific search phrases relevant to your niche category of service, industry and/or geography served.
Conversion Rate Optimization
Beyond SEO to pull prospects in, we’ll also tackle conversion rate optimization (CRO). That is, once they land on your homepage or interior page, how are we moving them along an intended path to take action? This could mean initiating a chat, filling out an interactive form, subscribing to your email list, or something else.
What are we offering online that your competitors are not? Are we giving prospects a reason to return? Thinking about the entire journey from the prospect’s perspective—not through your own agency’s lens—will uncover significant opportunity for improved rate of conversion from visitor to prospect to lead to opportunity.
My passion is in uncovering the gaps within an organization’s web presence—and providing solutions to address those challenges. Since selling my 14-year old digital agency, I have been the IA & SEO consultant to Facebook for its developer-facing web properties, as well as to NASA, and creative agencies throughout the country.
Rest assured that as part of our work together, we’ll optimize your agency’s site for organic search and conversion.
After 15 years of starting, scaling and selling my own digital agency in New York, I love helping other agency leaders to do the same. I work with established, mid-level agencies in the creative, media and tech industries, typically with $2-25M in annual revenue, looking to level-up and committed to investing in the significant growth of their organization.

While there is no way to guarantee results with white hat (or light gray) SEO techniques, the methodology I use as an SEO consultant has a proven track record and is sustainable because it’s rooted in best practices for long-term success.
Darker gray hat and black hat SEOs use tactics that vary in degrees of ethics and legality. However their “guaranteed results” cannot be sustained long-term, as Google will ultimately discover them and penalize your site—which will be very difficult from which to recover. In some severe cases, or in the case of “negative SEO”, there’s a good chance your site will fall out of rank and can even be taken down.
The timeline of each SEO project varies (typically 3-4 weeks for small projects and 2-3 months for large projects), while ranking on Page 1 for targeted keywords depends on numerous variables—including industry type, competition level, Google updates, browser type, user location and behavior, and more. Based on experience over 15 years, I’ve seen sites climb to Page 1 in as little as 48 hours or take as long as 6 months+. It’s important that we set our expectations accordingly at the onset or our work together—and remember that white hat SEO is a long-term initiative.
Transparency is paramount to a successful relationship, so I will educate your internal or external resources on on-page SEO, content development (length, frequency, etc.), link building and more.
The SEO Process
Once we decide to work together, we’ll collaborate every step of the way. I will be conscious of your team’s time and ensure that our reviews are efficient and productive. Low hanging fruit will be addressed first so we can get to work quickly on the critical elements.
Starting with keyword research and analysis, we’ll define which search terms to target—based on relevance, volume of monthly searches, industry competition and trends in long-tail search. We’ll discuss which terms might make great blog posts and other content pieces, which can be created by one of my resources, or by your in-house team.
Next, I’ll handle on-page SEO for every page on the site—and you can decide whether you’d like me to handle implementation, or if your in-house team has the bandwidth and capability (in order to reduce costs).
We’ll discuss citations and link building in order to define a link building strategy that makes sense for your agency.
Organic, Direct, Referral
Qualified prospects discover your agency online through various channels: organic search, paid search, social media, directories and other referral sites. Together, we’ll define KPIs (key performance indicators) that will keep all digital marketing efforts on track.
